So it was very tempting to use chat GPT here however I felt this should come from the heart.
So here’s the heart-felt waffle. This project has undergone quite a transformation over the years, starting from its humble origins in school and university, where it began as a directionless craft. It gradually evolved into doodles in the office, a means to pass the time. Eventually, a virus in China and an increased use of social media during the lockdown provided an outlet for my work, filled with quirky quips and musings.
It began with a doodle of a boy with a box on his head, shouting "La Machine". God knows why? whether it was my fondness for the French or simply because it sounded cool at the time, I have no idea. The project meandered, uncertain of its identity, caught between being a brand name and an artist. Ultimately, it felt incongruent, a misfit that didn't align with who I was.
After a hiatus from the drawings and the awkward pursuit of social media validation, I took a step back. Recovering from an injury, I returned to drawing, solely for myself, free from the pressures of building a brand or chasing likes. It felt nice, it felt liberating and amidst this rediscovery, I found a new direction. "Mr Nice" emerged, accompanied by an image of a man in a pink bunny suit that resonated with the name, and reminded me of an old picture of myself – it just felt right.
So here I am, back to doodling and creating nonsense, with the sole purpose of sharing my work for people to enjoy. Drawing inspiration from my favorite artists, skate culture, and the musings in my mind, I want my creations to reach you wherever you are – whether you're skating down the street, sipping coffee at work, or simply kicking back. I want you to experience it, get your hands on some of my merchandise, and make it a part of your world.
